The Beginning (2001-2004)
Logic Fire and Security’s journey began in 2001 when brothers Sean and Andy McPartland founded Logic Fire Systems as a specialist fire alarm supplier and installer. From the outset, the company demonstrated its commitment to excellence by becoming NICEIC approved contractors, establishing a foundation of professional credibility that would serve them well in the years ahead.
Recognising an untapped opportunity in the market, the McPartland brothers founded Logic Building Services in 2004. They had identified a significant gap for clients who required not just installation services, but comprehensive maintenance packages as well. This expansion marked a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution, as it naturally led to the integration of electronic security systems into their service portfolio. Logic began offering intruder alarms, CCTV systems, and access control solutions, effectively broadening their expertise beyond fire safety into comprehensive security services.
Building Excellence (2008-2012)
The company’s dedication to quality and professionalism was recognized in 2008 when Logic achieved NSI Security Silver accreditation, a testament to their growing expertise in security systems. This period of growth culminated in 2009 with a significant rebranding initiative. Logic Fire Systems and Logic Building Services were unified under the single banner of Logic Fire and Security, reflecting the company’s evolution into a comprehensive fire and security solutions provider.
The following years saw Logic continue to strengthen its industry credentials. In 2010, the company achieved both Constructionline accreditation and NSI Fire Silver accreditation, further cementing its reputation as a trusted provider in both fire and security sectors.
2011 marked a special milestone as Logic celebrated its 10th anniversary in memorable fashion. The company became the main sponsor of the renowned Knaresborough Bed Race, even fielding their own Logic Team to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Their participation proved successful both in terms of community engagement and competitive spirit, as the Logic Team won the Fastest Mixed Team category.
Continued Growth and Recognition (2012-2019)
Logic’s commitment to safety and compliance continued to be recognized throughout the 2010s. The company achieved SafeContractor accreditation in 2012, followed by IFEDA Full membership in 2015. These credentials underscored Logic’s position as a serious player in the fire and security industry.
In 2018, the company elevated its Constructionline accreditation to GOLD membership, demonstrating continued excellence in its operational standards. This achievement was followed by perhaps the most significant recognition in the company’s history in 2019, when Logic achieved the prestigious NSI Gold accreditation across multiple disciplines: Fire, NACOSS, and Fire Risk Assessments.
The same year saw Logic expand its expertise even further with BAFE accreditations in Fire Risk Assessments and Fire Extinguishers, along with achieving ISO9001:2015 certification. This comprehensive collection of certifications positioned Logic as one of the most qualified and trusted providers in the Yorkshire region and beyond.
Adapting to Modern Challenges (2020-2025)
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 presented unprecedented challenges across all industries, but Logic demonstrated its adaptability and forward-thinking approach by adding thermal imaging cameras to its service portfolio. This rapid response to emerging health and safety needs showcased the company’s ability to evolve with changing circumstances and client requirements.
A transformative moment came in 2023 when Logic joined Compliance Group Ltd, the UK’s leading integrated provider of safety and regulatory compliance services across electrical, fire, and water sectors. This partnership significantly expanded Logic’s capabilities and reach while maintaining the personal touch and expertise that had defined the company since its inception.
The same year marked another important leadership development when Richard Hammerton, who had joined Logic in 2013 as an engineer, was promoted to Managing Director alongside Andy McPartland. This succession planning demonstrated the company’s commitment to nurturing talent from within while ensuring continuity of its founding values and vision.
Innovation and Excellence Today (2024-2025)
Logic’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards continued into 2024 with the achievement of ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), and ISO 27001 (Information Security Management) certifications. These additional accreditations reflect the company’s holistic approach to business excellence and risk management.
Most recently, in 2025, Logic achieved BAFE SP207 Evacuation Alert Systems accreditation and Cyber Essentials Plus certification, demonstrating their continued investment in cutting-edge security solutions. The year also saw the launch of an exciting new brand video and website, marking a fresh chapter in the company’s digital presence and marketing approach.
